America's 20 Buggiest Cities of 2018

Buggiest Cities in America 2018

Which City is the Buggiest in 2018?

Wondering which parts of the country play host to the most pests? Pest Control Everything has compiled data from the country's largest pest control companies to determine the Top 20 Buggiest Cities in America for 2018. Looking for professional assistance with your pest control problem? We can connect you to a top-rated local exterminator in your area.

How do our rankings work? To determine the buggiest cities in America, we focused on four major pest groups: mosquitoes, bed bugs, termites, and rats. We then looked at readily available reports from companies such as Orkin, Terminix, and TruGreen who attribute rankings to cities based on their occurrences of treatment for each pest. When multiple companies released rankings on a particular pest, an average was taken.

Which city is the buggiest in the country? Based on our analysis, Los Angeles has earned the distinction as the buggiest city in America, ranking highest overall for bed bug occurrences, 2nd for termites and rats, and 19th overall for mosquitoes. Chicago was in the top 10 for rats (1), bed bugs (5), and mosquitoes (6), and even ranked first in TruGreen's Top 10 Tick Cities (though ticks have not been included in our rankings of overall buggiest cities). But for its comparatively low termite presence ranking, Chicago likely would be number one on our list.

In addition to Los Angeles being tops for bed bugs and Chicago being tops for rats and ticks, other notable number ones include Washington DC as the top mosquito city, and Houston as the leader in reported termite occurrences. Our complete report has been included below, along with a listing of the Top 20 Buggiest Cities in America. Also shown are the pests each city ranks in the top 10 for:
